Uganda Airlines has been named the African airline with the youngest fleet for 2025.
AFRICA’S YOUNGEST AIRLINE FLEET
CH Aviation has named Uganda Airlines the airline on the African continent with the youngest fleet, in its annual Africa’s Youngest Fleet Awards, for 2025.
The aviation news publication has named the top five airlines on the African continent according to the age of their fleets.
The airlines sitting at the top of the list include:
1 – Uganda Airlines (Uganda’s flag carrier)
2 – Air Tanzania (Tanzania’s national airline)
3 – Jambojet (Low-cost Kenyan carrier)
4 – Air Cairo (Low-cost Egyptian carrier)
5 – Air Austral (Reunion’s flag carrier)
UGANDA AIRLINES
Uganda Airlines remains at the top of the list, earning it Ch-Aviation’s Africa’s Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award for 2025.
This is in fact the fifth consecutive year that Uganda Airlines has earned the award.
Uganda Airlines’ operating fleet comprises two Airbus A330-800neos and four Bombardier CRJ900LR aircraft, which collectively have an average age of 5.12 years.
The airline thus continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
The newer aircraft have less of an impact on the environment. Thus making for more sustainable flying.
AVERAGE AGE OF AFRICAN FLEETS
The awards bring African airlines with smaller fleets into the spotlight.
While other airlines in Africa have newer aircraft in their fleets, they have larger fleets, with aircraft of various ages.
In fact, airlines such as African giant, Ethiopian Airlines, and Kenya’s flag carrier, Kenya Airways, have many new next-generation aircraft in their fleets.
However, the overall number of aircraft in their fleets increases the average aircraft age.
This is despite the fact that some aircraft might be newer than some aircraft in the fleets of other African carriers.
