Spain’s third largest airline, Air Europa, has set the launch date for its direct flights to Johannesburg, South Africa.
AIR EUROPA STARTS JOHANNESBURG FLIGHTS
The airline will commence service between Madrid and Johannesburg on 24 June this year.
Air Europa will provide three flights a week on this route. Services will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The route will be operated with Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
FLIGHT SCHEDULE
UX157 departs Madrid at 23:45, arriving in Johannesburg at 09:50 the following morning.
UX158 departs Johannesburg at 18:55, arriving in Madrid at 05:05 the following day.
The flying time for the non-stop service is just over 10 hours.
FIRST FORAY INTO SOUTH AFRICA
Though, not the first ever service connecting Spain and South Africa (Iberia operated the route some years ago), this will be Air Europa’s first scheduled service into South Africa.
The Skyteam member airline flies to destinations in Spain and Europa as well as North and South America, the Caribbean and North Africa (Morocco and Tunisia).
The launch of this service is well timed for safari visits to game parks in South Africa.
Many Spanish tourists choose South Africa for safari trips. Game viewing is ideal during the South Africa’s winter months, when wildlife sightings are better.
