South Africa’s Airlink will introduce scheduled flights between Cape Town and Zanzibar.

In fact, Airlink will offer the first-ever non-stop service between Cape Town and the Spice Island from October this year.
Airlink : Cape Town Zanzibar Route
This service will thus bring the island of Zanzibar within easy reach of Cape Town, and significantly cuts travel time for travellers.
The routing will be Airlink’s second service between South Africa and Zanzibar. Airlink will introduce flights from Johannesburg to Zanzibar on 3 June 2026.
The Cape Town Zanzibar service will operate on Saturdays from 3 October. These flights will have a flying time of just over six hours.
| Flight No | Weekday | Aircraft | Dep | Time | Arr | |
| 4Z 356 | Saturdays | E195-E2 | CPT | 08.15 | ZNZ | 14.30 |
| 4Z 357 | Saturdays | E195-E2 | ZNZ | 15.30 | CPT | 20.50 |
All times local at the point of departure.
Airlink will serve the route with its new, Embraer E195-E2 flagship aircraft. The aircraft, featuring Business and Economy classes, seats 124 passengers in a two-class cabin layout.
“The introduction of our new flagship aircraft, the E195-E2, with its innovative business class and comfortable economy seats, enables Airlink to bring destinations such as Zanzibar within convenient non-stop reach of Cape Town, which is an important source market for travel to the island. Cape Town is also our second hub and a popular connecting point for long-haul, regional and local customers travelling with Airlink or any of our partner airlines from around the world,” said de Villiers Engelbrecht, Airlink CEO.
First Direct Flight
The service will indeed make journeys between two of Africa’s most popular tourist destinations even more convenient.
Airlink says that passengers already holding tickets for its flights between Cape Town and Zanzibar (via Johannesburg) may change these tickets to the non-stop direct flight at no extra charge.
Zanzibar is a popular tourist destination. Increasing numbers of travellers are combining to Cape Town with this Indian Ocean island..
