Aircraft manufacturer Embraer has delivered 16 commercial jets in the third quarter of this year.

This means that its aircraft deliveries have increased more than 5% from a year earlier.

Including its defense and business jets, Embraer delivered over 57 aircraft in this period.

This is a third more than it delivered last year.

OBSTACLES FOR AIRCRAFT MANUFACTURERS

This comes at a time when aircraft manufacturers are experiencing a number of issues resulting in delivery delays.

Both Airbus and Boeing are struggling to ramp up production and deliver aircraft timeously.

Many of these challenges are caused by supply chain constraints in the post-Covid-19 pandemic period.

A shortage of engine parts, hydraulic valves, cabin interiors (and the components for these) are causing challenges.

These issues are only expected to ease in 2026.

NEW LARGER PASSENGER AIRCRAFT ON THE CARDS?

Embraer’s CEO Francisco Gomes Neto told CNBC that the company was studying the market and new technology that might call for it to produce larger passenger jet aircraft but that there were no definite plans for this as yet.

“At this point in time, we don’t have concrete plans to go to a big narrow body,” Gomes Neto said.

A new larger passenger-class airplane could help the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer compete with rivals Airbus and Boeing.

Gomes Neto said Embraer remains focused on improving results and selling its regional planes.

EMBRAER E-190 FREIGHTER AIRCRAFT APPROVAL

The Federal Aviation Administration approved a freighter version of Embraer’s E190 passenger-to-freighter converted jet earlier this month, helping clear the way for its commercial introduction.

The E-190F program was launched in May 2022 to meet the changing demands of e-commerce and modern trade, which require fast deliveries and decentralized operations.

This is driving the demand for faster delivery of shipments to regional markets.

E-Jets converted to freighters have over 40% more volume capacity, three times the range of large cargo turboprops, and up to 30% lower operating costs than larger narrowbodies.

SUSTAINABLE AIRCRAFT

Embraer’s efficient, economical and sustainable aircraft are propelling the aircraft manufacturer forward.

The company celebrated its 55th anniversary on August 19, inspired by a history marked by excellence in the development of people and products, as well as significant contributions to the aeronautical industry.
