AFRICA TRAVEL INDABA

At Africa’s Travel Indaba which takes place in Durban from 13 to 16 May, all things related to travel and tourism were up for discussion.

Emirates’ regional manager for South Africa, Afzal Parambil, said the airline had introduced Bunny Chows on flights to South Africa

Speaking to IOL, Parambil said the airline offers the typical South African dish on its menus.

“The bunny chow is an iconic meal representing one of South Africa’s many cultures and we were proud to introduce this to the world. We also serve SA wine on our routes and it’s interesting to note that the winemaker can’t keep up with sales since we began serving his wine. It’s about supporting and partnering with locals, and South Africa is an important one for us,” Parambil told IOL.

SOUTH AFRICA’S BUNNY CHOW

Bunny chow, often simply referred to as a ‘bunny’, is an Indian South African fast food dish consisting of a hollowed-out loaf of white bread filled with curry and a serving of salad on the side.

Origins of bunny chow date as far back as the migrant Indian workers’ arrival in South Africa. Bunny Chow was created in Durban, South Africa, which is home to a large community of people of Indian origin.

Emirates Airlines is proud to be able to showcase South Africa’s Bunny Chow to the world.
