FASTJET ZIMBABWE CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY

Fastjet Zimbabwe launched operations on 28 October 2015, with its inaugural flight from Harare to Victoria Falls. The flight was operated with an Airbus A319.

However, since then the carrier has significantly grown its fleet and route network. The Harare-based carrier connects Zimbabwe domestically and regionally.

Domestically, it serves Harare, Bulawayo, and Victoria Falls, while regionally it flies to Johannesburg, Maputo, Nelspruit and Lusaka.

CONTRIBUTION TO ZIMBABWE’S ECONOMY

The privately-owned carrier plays an important part in sustaining Zimbabwe’s economy. It facilitates trade and tourism. The latter is a key driver for the country’s economy.

“It gives me great pleasure and honour to deliver this address as we celebrate Fastjet Zimbabwe’s momentous achievement of 10 years flying in Zimbabwe. This is indeed the testament of what hard work, determination and resilience can deliver for all of us,” Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona said.

Zimbabwe is in the midst of an economic growth spurt, with aviation playing a key role. The country’s airports have also seen significant upgrades in recent years.

The government has made large investments in Zimbabwe’s major airports, including Bulawayo’s Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport, Victoria Falls International Airport, and Harare’s Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
