South Africa’s budget airline FlySafair has launched an initiative supporting schools. FlySafair will offer 10 free return tickets to three South African schools. Â
It is not often that airlines give free flights away to schools. However, FlySafair is doing its bit to support education and the youth.
FLYSAFAIR’S SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
The budget airline with a growing route network has launched a campaign directed at uplifting the educational community.
From supporting local artists by displaying their artwork in its aircraft cabins to hosting events inspiring women to choose careers in aviation, FlySafair takes its social responsibility seriously.
YOUTH MONTH
This initiative comes ahead of June – also known as Youth Month in South Africa.
Every year, on June 16, South Africans celebrate Youth Day. On this day, South Africans pay tribute to the lives of students and recognises the role of the youth in the liberation of South Africa.
Youth Day commemorates the Soweto Uprising, which took place on 16 June 1976, where numbers of demonstrating young students were injured or killed.
FLYSAFAIR’S SCHOOL BOOSTER CAMPAIGN
Since many state schools in South Africa are underfunded and under-resourced, FlySafair’s offer stands to benefit both schools and students.
FlySafair says:
Ahead of Youth Month, we’re shining a light on the pupils of South Africa and the amazing establishments who nurture them, by giving away 10 free return flights to 3 lucky schools.
FLYSAFAIR’S FREE TICKETS FOR SCHOOLS
The free return tickets will benefit schools that simply cannot afford to send their students to other parts of the country to attend events or participate in activities.
Moreover, the opportunity to travel by air introduces many students to the world of aviation.
INTRODUCTION TO AVIATION
FlySafair’s new School Booster campaign may expose learners to aviation as a potential career choice.
Furthermore, aviation is a growing sector that will offer employment opportunities to many young people in years to come.
FLYSAFAIR SUPPORTS EDUCATION
Indeed, FlySafair aims to help schools by sponsoring students with free tickets to different locations.
Thus, students may participate in activities or events that enable them to develop themselves or to represent their schools. Â Â
To be considered, students must explain why these free return air tickets will benefit their schools. Â
The airline says:
To stand the chance of winning, all you have to do is tell us how this A+ prize will help take your school to new heights—whether it’s put towards a sporting, academic or cultural event. As an airline with heart, we’re dedicated to helping everyone fly further—not just our daily customers, but businesses, through our Business Booster initiative, and now the youth too with our new School Booster campaign.
