Former Air Serbia CEO appointed to Air Botswana board

Aviation veteran, Dane Kondić, former Air Serbia CEO, has been appointed to the Air Botswana board.

AIR SERBIA CEO APPOINTED TO AIR BOTSWANA BOARD

Air Botswana announced the appointment of a new Board of Directors on June 27, 2025.

Significantly, the board comprises a diverse group of professionals with extensive experience in aviation, finance, and business administration.

The carrier will however continue to be led by CEO Lulu Rasebotsa, who is intent on sustainably growing the airline by expanding its operations in a sustainable way.

“Air Botswana is pleased to introduce its board of directors. The board of directors of air Botswana plays a pivotal role in steering the national airline towards sustainable growth operational excellence and enhanced stakeholder value. Comprising a diverse group of seasoned professionals, the board brings together a wealth of experience across various sectors, including aviation, finance, law, business administration and strategic management.” The airline said.

Kondic is an Australian citizen of Serbian origin, who has a career in civil aviation spanning 35 years. He thus brings significant knowledge and experience to Botswana’s national airline.

In recent years he has directed and managed airlines in Europe. Between 2013 and 2018, he served as Air Serbia’s CEO and chairperson. Then, from 2021 to 2024, he also held these positions at Portugal-based Euro Atlantic Airways.

NEW BOARD TO DRIVE SUSTAINABLE GROWTH

Air Botswana’s new board is chaired by Dane Kondić, with Adelaide Selolwane serving as Vice Chair and Chair of the Risk and Audit Committee.

The board is expected to steer the airline towards sustainable growth, operational excellence and enhanced stakeholder value.

“The appointment of the board of direct members reflects Botswana government’s commitment to ensuring that air Botswana is well positioned to deliver on its mandate. The board’s collective expertise is instrumental in supporting competitive strategic objectives of the airline, overseeing their implementation and navigating the dynamic avenues of the aviation industry with a strong focus on governance and accountability. The board is designed to upholding air Botswana’s honors mission of providing safe, reliable, and efficient air transport services while contributing to Botswana’s broader development goals.” Air Botswana said.

Kondić will also speak at the Aviation Africa Summit taking place in Kigali this September. He will share his experiences on leading and transforming airlines.
