The latest addition to Airlink’s E2 fleet just made history, flying a record 7,400km non-stop from São José dos Campos, Brazil, to Johannesburg, South Africa.

This is indeed the longest flight on record for the aircraft type.

The new E195-E2 aircraft, registration ZS-LKA, is the third of this type delivered by Embraer, to Airlink.

In August this year, Airlink agreed to lease 10 new E195-E2s through ACMI and aircraft lessor, Azorra.

Two of the new jets have already arrived in South Africa. They were ferried from Brazil to Johannesburg, South Africa, via Cape Town.

However, the third has flown non-stop from Embraer’s manufacturing facility in Brazil, to Airlink’s hub in Johannesburg.

The aircraft flew an impressive 3,996 nautical miles (7,400 kilometers) non-stop from São José dos Campos, Brazil to Johannesburg, South Africa. This is in fact, the longest E2 flight since the family’s entry into service in 2018.

During the flight from São José dos Campos to Johannesburg the E195-E2 demonstrated exceptional efficiency with a fuel burn of less than 1,350kg per hour.

This indeed reinforces the E2 family’s position as the world’s most efficient small narrow body aircraft.

This remarkable aircraft will support Airlink’s strategic growth, strengthen connectivity and modernize air travel across Southern Africa.
