Zambia’s private carrier, Proflight Zambia, celebrated its 25th anniversary last month.
The full-service carrier reached a significant milestone in providing scheduled air services.
TRACING PROFLIGHT ZAMBIA ‘S 25TH ANNIVERSARY
The Zambian airline reached the remarkable milestone of operating over two decades of scheduled passenger services in August.
“I am so proud of what we have achieved in a quarter of a century. We started out in 1991 and now we have over 130,000 passengers a year! We could not have done this without the dedication, passion and talent of our incredible staff. We would like to thank the hundreds of thousands of passengers and every member of staff who has made Proflight Zambia what it is today,” said Managing Director Tony Irwin.
Since its launch with one five-seater Beechcraft Baron aircraft Proflight Zambia has grown its fleet and flight schedule.
Today, Proflight carries over 130,000 passengers annually, with the airline operating numerous 50-seater Bombardier CRJs, three 29-seater Jetstream 41 aircraft and two 18-seater Jetstream 32s.
As well as growing its fleet, the airline has also expanded its route network.
Proflight Zambia now offers flights to 9 destinations including various cross-border routes such as Cape Town, South Africa.
It will also launch scheduled services to Windhoek, Namibia, next year.
A SUSTAINABLE AIRLINE
Beyond providing scheduled air services, the airline proudly builds national talent and cultural identity.
Proflight Zambia employs over 200 Zambians.
Its team of skilled staff is key to its success, with 218 people employed, including 44 ground staff, 40 pilots and 19 cabin crew.
There is a sizeable female representation, including pilots and engineers in its workforce.
Furthermore, the airline promotes local industry by serving Zambian products on its flights.
