Qatar Airways will introduce flights between Doha and Port Sudan (Sudan) in July.
Port Sudan will be the Doha-based carrier’s second destination in Sudan, after its initial Khartoum service (which it no longer operates).
The introduction of this service by Qatar Airways opens up accessibility to the port city, which facilitates most of Sudan’s international trade.
Qatar Airways starts Port Sudan flights
The Doha-based airline will operate three weekly rotations between Doha and Port Sudan from 2 July, 2026.
Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Flight QR1319 will depart Doha at 09:00, arriving in Port Sudan at 11:00.
Flight QR1320 will depart Port Sudan at 12:25, ariving in Doha at 16:20.
The route will be operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft.
Opening accessibility
Port Sudan is a major city located on the Red Sea, in eastern Sudan. It is the country’s main seaport – and handles 90% of Sudan’s international trade.
Passengers travelling to Port Sudan from key markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia including Oman and Pakistan, can make now seamless transfers through Hamad International Airport.
Significance in aviation
Incidentally, the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, was Qatar Airways’ first African destination.
The airline launched its African route network with fights to Khartoum, on 30 May 1994.
This was followed with the introduction of scheduled flights to Cairo in Egypt.
On 14 July 1994, Cairo became Qatar Airways’ second destination on the African continent.
Now, 32 years later, Qatar Airways will add Port Sudan to its route network.
Today, the Middle East based airline operates scheduled services to over 160 destinations from its Doha hub, Hamad International Airport.
The introduction of this route reinforces Qatar Airways’ commitment to global connectivity, while balancing sustainable growth with increasing demand for convenient air travel connectivity and trade.
