South African Airways (SAA) will increase frequencies from Johannesburg on various routes to West Africa.
SAA ADDS MORE FLIGHTS TO WEST AFRICA
South Africa’s national carrier, SAA, will operate more flights to destinations across West Africa from next month.
“South African Airways is strengthening its network with more flights, more frequencies, and more opportunities to connect Africa to the world. We are aiming higher to serve our customers better this festive season,” said Tebogo Tsimane, SAA’s Chief Commercial Officer.
From 1 October SAA will offer more flights between Johannesburg and Accra, Ghana.
The airline currently offers four services a week on this route. Frequencies will rise to six per week between Johannesburg and Accra. Additional flights will operate on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Then, from 6 October, the airline will also add more frequencies between Johannesburg and Lagos, Nigeria.
Currently, the carrier offers four services a week on this route. Flights will increase to six per week. The additional flights will be on Mondays and Tuesdays.
ANOTHER AIRCRAFT ADDED
The added flights are made possible by the addition of a widebody aircraft.
Aero Routes reports that SAA has leased an Airbus A330-330 aircraft from Hi-Fly, for a period of 5 months. Thus, enabling this network expansion.
However, the added flights are seasonal services. These frequencies will terminate in early February.
They have been put in place to offer customers greater flexibility, convenience, and choice during the busiest travel periods of the year, when South Africa traditionally sees increased tourism flows.
