Etihad Airways will operate scheduled flights to the island of Zanzibar next summer.

The Indian Ocean island is a popular tourist destination – either on its own or coupled with a safari in Kenya or Tanzania.
ETIHAD AIRWAYS OFFERS ZANZIBAR FLIGHTS
Abu Dhabi-based, Etihad Airways, will operate seasonal services to Zanzibar for almost two months next year. The carrier will commence this medium haul route in June and end off in September.
“Zanzibar is the perfect summer escape and we are thrilled to welcome it back to our growing network,” said Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways.
ZANZIBAR SERVICE
Etihad will offer four rotations a week between Abu Dhabi and Zanzibar from 14 June to 6 September 2026. Flights will be operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft, offering Business and Economy Class cabins.
Zanzibar becomes Etihad’s 30th destination announced this year, reinforcing the airline’s ambitious global expansion. The decision to return to Zanzibar has indeed been facilitated by Etihad’s larger and more complete European network, with multiple double-daily services into Abu Dhabi.
Zanzibar is however, not the only new island getaway Etihad will offer next year. Last week, the airline announced that it would also be flying to the Balearic Islands.
Palma de Mallorca will join Etihad’s network next summer – giving travellers more holiday choices.
Etihad’s new island routes enable the choice of both Mediterranean escapes and Indian Ocean retreats, reinforcing Abu Dhabi as a hub for sun-soaked adventures.

As part of Tanzania’s picturesque archipelago, Zanzibar is celebrated for its UNESCO-listed Stone Town, spice plantations and some of the world’s most spectacular beaches.
From diving in coral reefs to exploring centuries-old alleyways, the island offers a perfect blend of relaxation and discovery. The island also serves as a gateway to East Africa’s iconic safari destinations, making it an ideal stepping stone to the Serengeti or Kilimanjaro.
