Air Europa will launch scheduled flights between Madrid and Johannesburg this year.
Air Europa will introduce services between Madrid and Johannesburg in June. The thrice weekly service will commence on 24 June.
The new flights will depart Madrid on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 15h05, arriving in Johannesburg at 01h10 the following day.
Flights will depart Johannesburg on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 03h10, arriving in Madrid at 13h20.
Services will be operated with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Air Europa operates a number of long haul services to various destinations across South America with the 787.
NEW SPAIN – SOUTH AFRICA CONNECTION
This will indeed be the carrier’s first foray into the South African landscape.
However, this new Air Europa flight will not be the first service linking Spain and South Africa.
Spain’s national carrier, Iberia, has previously operated services connecting the Spanish capital with Johannesburg, South Africa.
The service ended in 2019, with Iberia citing profitability as a reason for dropping the route.
