This is Airlink’s first international scheduled service from Lanseria International Airport. The route will be operated with a narrow-body aircraft.

Harare: First international route from Lanseria for Airlink

Operating three times a week, the new route will give travellers from the northern and north-western suburbs of Johannesburg, the West Rand, parts of Pretoria and the North West province a convenient alternative to travelling through O.R. Tambo International Airport.

From Lanseria this service will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

From Robert Gabriel International Airport in Harare, flights will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Airlink says that it will offer these full service flights with its Embraer E190 jet aircraft.

Growing its Lanseria Footprint

Airlink is indeed starting to establish a presence at Lanseria, Johannesburg’s privately-owned airport.

To date, most airlines operating scheduled commercial services out of Lanseria are low-cost carriers.

The now defunct Kulula.com, as well as Mango Airlines, previously held a significant presence at Lanseria.

However, FlySafair now dominates the scene at Lanseria, operating scheduled services on various domestic routes.

Airlink will indeed be the first full-service carrier operating out of Lanseria.

In fact, the launch of this new international service comes after Airlink announced that it will also start flying between Lanseria and Cape Town. The airline will fly twice daily on this route.

Airlink operates its sizeable route network of scheduled services out of Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport.
