Fastjet and Victoria Falls Marathon
This year’s edition of the Victoria Falls Marathon will be held on the 5th of July 2026. Over 5 000 runners from more than 40 countries have registered to participate.
“The Econet Victoria Falls Marathon has firmly established itself as a premier event on the global marathon calendar, offering participants the unique experience of running across the iconic Victoria Falls Bridge against the breathtaking backdrop of the mighty Victoria Falls. As a key gateway to Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls holds strategic importance for us, connecting this iconic destination to Bulawayo, Harare, Johannesburg and Kruger Mpumalanga, and this partnership underscores our ongoing commitment to support the growth and development of tourism in Zimbabwe and across the region.” Nunurai Ndawana, spokesperson for fastjet Zimbabwe, said:
Runners will be welcomed with music, cheers and refreshments on the route at Fastjet’s en-route refreshment station.
Victoria Falls Marathon: Double the Fun!
The Victoria Falls Marathon is indeed a highlight on the running calendar. For many runners it represents the chance to run an international marathon, as well as to visit the iconic Victoria Falls.
In fact, early in the race, the marathon’s route takes runners across the mighty bridge located between Zimbabwe and Zambia, yielding views of the magnificent waterfall – one of the world’s natural wonders.
Runners will also pass other landmarks. These include a huge Baobab tree, known locally as “The Big Tree” and a convenience store known as “Little Harrods” while running through the Victoria Falls National Park.
Wildlife encounters are also possible en-route, but wardens and rangers are stationed along the route to ward off danger.
Race weekend brings much excitment to the town of Victoria Falls, which has many unique offerings for visitors.
“Given fastjet Zimbabwe’s strong footprint in tourism and its extensive regional network, fastjet is a natural fit as a partner for the Victoria Falls Marathon. We are delighted to welcome fastjet as our Official Airline partner, a proudly Zimbabwean airline that shares our commitment to connecting people with remarkable destinations. By enhancing accessibility through its well-established and reliable route network into Victoria Falls, fastjet will play a pivotal role in enabling greater participation from Zimbabwe and across the region.” Edith Matekaire, Chief Commercial & Products Officer for Econet Wireless, the marathon’s headline sponsor since 2009, said.
