Fastjet Zimbabwe will operate an Airbus A320 on temporary basis, to support increased passenger demand during the peak travel period of August and September.

Fastjet Zimbabwe to operate Airbus A320 flights
The leased aircraft is expected to enter service with the privately-owned airline on 1 August 2026.
Fastjet Zimbabwe will mainly operate the A320-200 on its high-demand routes.
This includes its Harare–Johannesburg and Victoria Falls–Johannesburg routes. These are currently being operated with Embraer E145 aircraft.
Donahue Cortes, Business Chief Executive and Country Head of fastjet Zimbabwe, said, “The August and September peak travel period presents an ideal opportunity for us to introduce the A320 into our operation. This additional capacity enables us to meet the increased demand on our busiest routes while maintaining the reliability and service standards our customers expect”.
A Pilot Project
The Harare – Johannesburg and Victoria Falls – Johannesburg services are two of Fastjet Zimbabwe’s trunk routes.
The airline has indeed established itself as a reliable and trusted brand.
While smaller aircraft help to make these routes more operationally sustainable and cost effective, larger aircraft could allow Fastjet Zimbabwe to tap into more more passenger traffic.
The temporary operation of the A320 forms part of fastjet Zimbabwe’s strategy to increase capacity during the peak season while also evaluating the aircraft type as a potential permanent addition to its fleet from 2027.
“Beyond supporting our immediate operational requirements, this deployment is an important strategic step. It allows us to evaluate the Airbus A320 within our network as part of our longer-term fleet development strategy. Subject to the outcome of this trial, we see the Airbus A320 becoming a permanent part of the fastjet Zimbabwe fleet from next year, supporting our continued growth and strengthening connectivity between Zimbabwe and the region,” Cortes said.
