Passengers on a recent Mozambique Airlines flight from Lisbon to Maputo were delayed for two days.
LAM Mozambique Airlines’ Lisbon flight, which was scheduled to depart at 7:00 pm on Tuesday 23 July only left the city two days later…
TWO DAY LISBON FLIGHT DELAY
The LAM flight’s Maputo-bound passengers were delayed in Lisbon for two days.
The plane they were supposed to take was only able to leave in the afternoon, on Thursday 25 July.
IRATE MOZAMBIQUE AIRLINES PASSENGERS
The intercontinental flight with 300 passengers did not depart as scheduled, leaving passengers aggravated by the lengthy two-day delay.
The passengers’ nightmare began shortly before 7:00 pm on Tuesday 23 July, the flight’s scheduled departure time.
NO EXPLANATION GIVEN
Portuguese media ‘O PaÃs’ reports that the airline’s passengers were indeed kept in the dark for two days.
They were given no prior notification or any reason for the flight not being able to depart as scheduled.
NOT THE FIRST TIME
Furthermore, this was not the first occasion that Air Mozambique’s passengers were stranded at Lisbon International Airport.
The airline has repeatedly done this to passengers, according to Club of Mozambique.
Some of the 300 passengers revealed that for them to leave Portugal an alternative flight was needed, which was only made available on Thursday afternoon.
The airline’s passengers also had to endure longer flights to and from Europe until it could use Zimbabwe airspace.
It could not do so for a period of time, while Zimbabwe banned it from flying over the country’s airspace.
The matter in fact related to money owed by LAM to Zimbabwe’s Civil Aviation Authority.
MOZAMBIQUE AIRLINES RESPONSE
Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) has yet to outline the reason for this lengthy delay.
The airline has said it will clarify the matter in due course.
Airlines should handle situations like this with more transparency.
Such situations indeed have serious impacts on customers and do not encourage customer loyalty.
