The low-cost airline has launched its 2024 winter schedule for Porto, with 55 routes.

This includes two new destinations – one in Europe and the other in Africa.

RYANAIR AFRICA ROUTE

Ryanair will offer flights to Rome (Italy) and Tangier (Morocco) from Porto – for the winter.

“Ryanair is pleased to announce the Porto Winter Schedule, representing an investment of US$1.2 billion in the region. This winter, Ryanair will operate 55 routes so that our customers in Porto can make the most of their holidays and enjoy memorable experiences. We are adding two new destinations that perfectly capture the essence and charm of this season: Rome in Italy and Tangier in Morocco.” Ryanair’s Elena Cabrera said.

BOOST FOR PORTO ECONOMY

The Irish budget airline’s Winter Schedule for Porto will be operated with 12 aircraft.

This represents an investment of $1.2 billion for the local economy.

Furthermore, it supports more than 4,400 jobs in the region, including 360 jobs with the airline.

RYANAIR IN MOROCCO

Ryanair is no stranger to Morocco. The airline already operates services into Morocco from several destinations in Europe.

However, last year, the airline announced it would establish a base in Tangier in the summer.

This significant expansion included the establishment of a new base in Tangier with two additional aircraft and the introduction of flights to Beni-Mellal and Errachidia airports.

PREPARING FOR FIFA WORLD CUP 2030

The airline says it will continue to support Morocco’s tourism infrastructure development.

This comes as Morocco prepares to host the World Cup 2030.

Together with Spain and Portugal, the North African country is set to host the FIFA event in six years’ time.

Hence the importance of building up air connectivity and services that facilitate the tourism sector.

ANOTHER NEW AFRICA ROUTE

Portugal has also seen the addition of another new route.

In addition to this new Ryanair route to Africa, Easyjet has begun to operate flights to Cape Verde.

Easyjet has commenced flights from both Porto and Lisbon to Cape Verde.

Portugal has strong historical and cultural connections with the island archipelago.
