South African Airways will commence flying to Gaborone, Botswana, in November.

This is not the first time the airline will fly to Botswana’s capital.
SAA previously operated scheduled flights between Johannesburg and Gaborone but terminated the route a number of years ago.
“The launch of this route not only strengthens the cultural and economic ties between Botswana and South Africa but also reinforces SAA’s position as a premium network carrier. The addition of Gaborone to our network is a clear demonstration of our dedication to supporting regional integration, tourism, and inclusive economic growth,” said SAA CEO, John Lamola.
Services between Johannesburg and Gaborone are currently offered by Air Botswana and Airlink.
Air Botswana operates several frequencies each day on this routing, with its Embraer ERJ 145 or ATR 72 aircraft.
Airlink also offers daily flights on the route, with its Embraer fleet.
SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS FLIGHTS TO GABORONE
SAA becomes the third full-service carrier operating flights on the route. It will operate two daily rotations between Johannesburg and Gaborone, starting November 4.
The morning service departs Johannesburg at 06h35 and arrives in Gaborone at 07h35. The return flight departs Gaborone at 08h25 and arrives in Johannesburg at 09h25.
The afternoon service departs Johannesburg at 16h40 and arrives in Gaborone at 17h40. The return flight departs Gaborone at 18h30 and arrives in Johannesburg at 19h30.
Flights will be operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft, offering business and economy class seating.
Gaborone is Botswana’s capital city as well as the country’s commercial hub.
South African Airways’ flights are well timed for business passengers making day trips to Gaborone.
The airline has gradually expanded its route network since restarting scheduled operations in September 2021.
It will also be introducing flights between Cape Town and Mauritius in December this year.
