Uganda’s national carrier, Uganda Airlines commences services to Abuja in Nigeria today.
Uganda Airlines will launch scheduled flights between its hub and the Nigerian capital, Abuja.
NEW UGANDA AIRLINES ROUTE
The inaugural flight departs at 16.00 (local time) on Thursday 12 September.
The triangular route will be offered twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays.
This is the fourteenth route Ugandan offers out of its Entebbe base.
Flights are operated twice a week, with a next-generation Airbus A330 aircraft.
ABUJA FLIGHT SCHEDULE
The route to Abuja operates as a tag-on flight from Lagos. However, from Abuja the flight returns directly to Entebbe.
Flight UR 900 departs Entebbe at 16.00 and arrives in Abuja at 20.40. The duration of this flight is 6 hours and 40 minutes, including a stop in Lagos.
Flight UR 900 departs Abuja at 21.40 and arrives in Entebbe at 03.55 the next day. The duration of this flight is 4 hours and 15 minutes.
UGANDA AIRLINES EXPANSION PHASE
Uganda Airlines is indeed in a growth phase with exciting new developments in the pipelines for the African carrier.
This month the airline will also launch new services to Lusaka, Zambia and Harare, Zimbabwe.
In fact, these cities will be served using a triangular routing.

UGANDAN’S FLEET EXPANSION
Ugandan took delivery of an Airbus A330neo last year, which it uses to operate flights to Dubai, Lagos, and Mumbai.
The carrier has placed an order for more next-generation aircraft, with four Airbus A320neos on order.
Ugandan also has four CRJ-900s, which are used to operate short-haul domestic and regional routes including to Dar Es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar in Tanzania, Nairobi and Mombasa in Kenya, Bujumbura; Burundi and Juba, South Sudan among others.
The airline has also wet-leased an Airbus A320 from Global Aviation, which is used for flights to Johannesburg and Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.
EUROPE ON THE HORIZON
An expanded fleet opens up new opportunities for airlines, thus enabling expanded flight schedules and route networks.
In addition to more African routes, Uganda Airlines aims to launch flights to London Gatwick Airport towards the end of the year.
