Be it a window or an aisle seat – no matter the preference, United Airlines aims to make it easier for travellers to opt for their preferred seats, if these are available before departure.

SELECTING PREFERRED SEATING

Passengers flying with United Airlines can opt for specific seats on its flights.

This is made possible when using a new feature of United’s mobile app.

In addition, the seating takes place free of charge to passengers making their requests through the airline’s app.

Passengers will be moved to their preferred seats if these seats are available before the flight departure.

POPULAR OPTION FOR UNITED AIRLINES APP USERS

Last month, July 2024, United Airlines moved over 18 000 passengers to their preferred seats before their flights.

These passengers in fact made their requests through the mobile app.

This represents nearly 40% of eligible passengers who opted to be moved to their preferred seats.

HOW TO MAKE PREFERRED SEATING REQUESTS

Users of United’s mobile app are invited to take advantage of the complimentary offer.

The airline advises how passengers can go about making these requests:

  • Request your desired seat in the mobile app if your preferred seat type isn’t available at the time of booking your flight.
  • Select where you would like to sit, including preferences for window or aisle seats, exit rows or bulkhead seats.
  • Get automatically assigned and notified about your new seat assignment if your preferred choice becomes available.

NEW UNITED AIRLINES MOBILE APP FEATURE

With up to 3 million users interacting with the United mobile app daily, United Airlines is continuing to bring useful features to its app.

This is just the latest new app feature that gives United’s customers more options and makes travel more convenient.

United Airlines is indeed the first and only US carrier offering a seat preference app feature.
