Swiss leisure airline, Edelweiss, has begun scheduled flights between Zurich and Windhoek.
Edelweiss commences Zurich Windhoek flights
The carrier operated its first nonstop flight from Zurich to Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako International Airport in Namibia on 1 June.
The inaugural flight, WK 82, departed Zurich at 10:15 with 285 passengers on board, operated with a new Airbus A350.
Flight WK83 then departed from Windhoek at 21:46 with 253 passengers on board.
Expanded African Network
With Windhoek joining its network, Edelweiss expands its offering in southern Africa, providing travellers with a direct connection to another one of the continent’s most desirable destinations.
The airline offers services to various key tourist hotspots across southern and eastern Africa.
Destinations include Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, Cape Town, Mauritius and Seychelles. However, some of these are seasonal operations.

Edelweiss is a sister company of Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) and a member of the Lufthansa Group.
With the new Edelweiss route to Zurich, the Lufthansa Group is further expanding its service between Namibia and Europe.
In addition to these Edelweiss flights to Zurich, sister company Discover Airlines already offers daily nonstop flights to Frankfurt as well as three weekly flights to Munich.
In total, the Lufthansa Group now offers 13 weekly nonstop flights from Windhoek to the European hubs of Zurich, Frankfurt, and Munich, providing travelers with optimal connectivity within Europe as well as to numerous international destinations.
Flight Schedule
The Swiss leisure carrier will offer this Windhoek seasonal service up to three times a week until the end of October.
Initially, it will fly to Windhoek twice a week, with flights on Mondays and Fridays.
Then, from mid-July 2026, the airline will expand this service to three weekly services, until the end of October. Flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

The new service is operated with an Airbus A350, which is the newest long-haul aircraft in the Edelweiss fleet.
The Airbus A350 offers a particularly quiet and comfortable travel experience while also delivering high efficiency and lower fuel consumption compared to earlier generations of aircraft.
Thanks to larger windows, pleasant cabin lighting, and a modern sense of space, passengers enjoy additional comfort on long-haul flights.
