South America’s LATAM will launch scheduled flights between Sao Paulo (Brazil) and Cape Town (South Africa) in July.
LATAM has in fact brought forward the original September launch date of this service, in light of increased passenger demand between the two nations.
The earlier introduction of this service appears to be fitting given that visitor arrivals to South Africa from Brazil showed a 37.5% increase in April 2026.
LATAM launches Cape Town Flights
The airline will operate three weekly direct flights between Sao Paulo and Cape Town from July 2, 2026.
The route is to be operated with a Boeing 787-9 aircraft, seating up to 300 passengers in a two class cabin configuration.
Business class will feature 30 seats and 270 seats are available in economy class.

Sao Paulo to Cape Town:
Flight LA 8060 departs Sao Paulo at 22:45, arriving in Cape Town at 10:55 the next morning.
This service operates on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Cape Town to Sao Paulo:
Flight LA 8061 departs Cape Town at 15:50, arriving in Sao Paulo at 20:00 the same day.
This service operates on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
These flights offer convenient connectivity to over 60 destinations in Brazil and 120 in South America.
Tourist Arrivals South Africa
South Africa recorded 989 329 international tourist arrivals in April 2026. This marks the country’s strongest monthly year-on-year tourism growth during 2026, despite global aviation disruptions.
The country’s Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille welcomed the increase, with the latest Statistics South Africa International Tourism Report showing overall arrivals grew by 19.5% compared with April 2025.
South African Airways operates flights to Sao Paulo, from Johannesburg and Cape Town. LATAM also runs flights between Johannesburg and Sao Paulo.
