The added capacity will indeed benefit travellers as well as South Africa’s tourism sector.

FOUR DAILY JOHANNESBURG FREQUENCIES

From March 2025, Emirates will increase capacity to Johannesburg by offering four flights a day between Johannesburg and Dubai.

The airline previously operated four daily services between Johannesburg and Dubai before the Covid-19 pandemic.

This follows the recent deployment of the Airbus A380 on Emirates’ second daily flight between Dubai and Johannesburg, on 1 September.

“South Africa has long been a highly popular destination for both leisure and business travellers connecting to and through Dubai, and the fourth daily flight enables us to better serve the growing demand for travel to and from the market.”  Adnan Kazim, Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer said.

MORE EMIRATES FLIGHTS TO SOUTH AFRICA

Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, thus offers even more choice, connectivity and premium travel options to Johannesburg, with a fourth daily flight on this route.

The additional flight will thus take the total number of flights Emirates operates between Dubai and South Africa to 49 services per week.

Emirates currently offers three daily rotations to Johannesburg, two to Cape Town and one to Durban, totalling 42 services a week.

The move reaffirms the importance of South Africa on the airline’s extensive global network. Emirates’ fourth daily flight will begin on 1 March next year.

“We’d like to extend our thanks to the South African authorities for their partnership and support in securing this new service, which reinstates the capacity we offered South Africa pre-pandemic, with 49 weekly flights, across three gateways. As we reflect on nearly three decades of operations to the market, we remain committed to driving inbound travel to South Africa, supporting the government as they aim make tourism the leading economic contributor and vehicle for transformation, as well as encouraging more inwards investment to the country.” Kazim said.
