KENYA AIRWAYS FLIGHT AND ROUTE ADJUSTMENTS

The national carrier will ramp up services on several routes to take advantage of increased demand.

However, it will also use larger aircraft on two services, to increase capacity.

ADDING CAPACITY

Kenya’s national airline has decided to deploy a widebody aircraft on two routes, where demand is rising.

Increased traffic on these routes is due to growing passenger numbers between East and South Africa.

Furthermore, Kenya Airways also offers convenient connectivity to a number of destinations through its Nairobi hub.

Johannesburg, South Africa

Effective 1st August 2024, Kenya’s five weekly night-time services, will be upgraded to a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

This is part of the 26 weekly flights operated by Kenya Airways to Johannesburg, South Africa.

Cape Town, South Africa

Effective 1st August 2024, its three weekly direct Cape Town flights will be upgraded to a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Thus it offers 30 full lie-flat seats in business class and 204 economy class seats with generous seat pitch.

ROUTE NETWORK ADJUSTMENTS

Bangui, Central Africa Republic

Effective 9 August 2024, Kenya Airways will suspend its five weekly flights to Bangui, Central Africa Republic.

However, its cargo service will not be affected by the suspension.

Douala, Cameroon

From 11 August 2024, Kenya Airways’ five weekly flights to Douala will be operated as direct services, without the previous tag-on flight the service included.

Thus, offering a shorter flight time and better connectivity through Nairobi.

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

From 1 July 2024, Kenya Airways has been operating daily midday flights to the Tanzanian hub.

The airline added two more flights each week on this routing- on Wednesdays and Fridays.

KENYA AIRWAYS’ OPTIMISATION

Despite dropping Bangui from its route network Kenya Airways says it remains committed to continuously optimizing its flight schedule to better align with demand and performance objectives.
