The Fastjet Zimbabwe rating comes after the agency released its airline rankings in the annual edition of the Skytrax World Airline Awards.

Coming in the top five places in Skytrax’s Best Low-Cost Carriers in Africa were: South Africa’s FlySafair and Lift Airline, Zimbabwe’s Fastjet, followed by Kenya’s JamboJet and Fly540.

That said, Fastjet Zimbabwe is not actually a low-cost carrier. The airline is instead known as a value carrier offering services which most full-service airlines provide to all passengers. This includes inflight catering, checked baggage, cabin baggage and even flight changes (subject to applicable fare conditions).

Fastjet’s Zimbabwe launched services in 2015. Scheduled flights between its base at Harare International Airport and Victoria Falls commenced on 28 October 2015, and flights to Johannesburg began on 1 February 2016.

Now, the airline operates services between the three major urban centres in Zimbabwe: Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls. It operates flights from Johannesburg to each of these points in Zimbabwe – with its fleet of Embraer aircraft.

In addition, Fastjet also offers flights between Victoria Falls and Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. This service conveniently connects two of Africa’s most desirable tourist destinations: Zimbabwe’s mighty Victoria Falls and South Africa’s iconic Kruger National Park.

Fastjet Zimbabwe has recently introduced scheduled flights to yet another regional destination. On 9 April, the carrier operated its first flight between Harare and Lusaka, thus connecting Zimbabwe with neighbouring Zambia.

Flights between Harare and Lusaka are operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Fastjet Zimbabwe deploys a 50-seater Embraer ERJ145 aircraft on this service.
